Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Exellent well rounded 3 course French menu for 42 euro. Air conitioned formal dining room in old building with exposed ceiling beams. Creative starter of pea soup with lime mousse (!). My wife was euphoric about her asparagus entree, and I really enjoyed mine (beef tartar + terrine + foi gras). Slow cooked beef was good albeit not unusual, catfish confit was excellen. And deserts!"
"Hands down THE BEST MEAL we have in this trip, much better than La Couronne in Rouen. The duck appetitzer and main dishes were our favorite. We love the food so much we ordered extra dessert. The dishes are innovative, flavored just right. I’m especially impressed with dessert made with cauliflower and another dessert made with shiitake mushroom. The cauliflower dessert has a subtle taste of the most fragrant coconut. It was such a light taste yet it shines through. We were impressed. Highly recommended."
"Unbelievably good. Each menu item was well thought out, many of the dishes had ingredients that you would think were contradictory but were complimentary to each other and had a complex flavor profile. Having several food allergies makes it difficult to eat French food because of the many sauces and number of foods that go into each dish, but they accommodated me no problem. The wine pairing of the beef was also perfect. The servers were friendly and helpful. Thanks for the great experience."
"Nice food and services. The staff can explain to you in English. Lunch menu (in English as well) is offered from Wed to Fri. Starter+ Main dish+dessert (incl. coffee) just 24 euro. So highly value-for-money"
"Outstanding choice for dinner, a highlight of our travels. A small but carefully thought out menu with plenty of delightful details to savour. Love that the kids menu is a small portion of the same sophisticated dishes offered to adults. Our daughter aged 7 loved the beef in red wine sauce and her dessert with nuts and chocolate, but, she was not sold on the artichoke ice cream at the side. Our son 9 loved the curried catfish with haddock mash. He also liked his apricot dessert but wasn't so keen on the curried honey ice cream which accompanied it. The petit pois amuse bouche was delicious. The beef gravlax starter was also a highlight. Wine was good, presentation was excellent and staff were very welcoming. Well worth a visit."
"A wonderful experience! The room was beautiful, light and quiet and airy in classical French style. The service was excellent, not too much nor too little and friendly. And the food was frankly exquisite, amazing flavour combinations, creative, delicious and superbly presented. We had the terrine, pork, catfish confit and chocolate mousse and they were all fantastic. Nice wines too, we both had the Vouvray. One of the best meal experiences I have EVER had. Total bill about 115e but worth every cent! Just sublime. Merci à le Lion D’Or!"
"One of the best meals I ever had! Wonderful service, amazingly detailed and plated food. Would come again to Blois just for a visit here"
"Everything was exceptional. The person attending us was super helpful in suggesting us with some dishes. The amuse bouche was incredible too. The white wine was just perfect balance for the food we ordered too. Would definitely suggest people to visit this place at least once."
